The Nikon SC-14 is a TTL Remote Cord (extension cable) for the professional F3 35mm SLR cameras and F3 dedicated flash units such as the SB-12, SB-16A, SB-17 and SB-21A. It's used for taking the flash off camera to improve lighting, avoid obstacles close up or provide bounce flash. One end connects to the special flash fitting around the camera's rewind knob, with a locking collar to secure it in position. The other end has a fitting to accept Nikon F3 flash units on top (with film speed scale from ISO 25 to 400), and a standard 1/4-inch tripod thread on the base. The flash can then be used hand held, or mounted on a tripod or other support, up to around 1m (3.3 feet) from the camera. The dedicated features of the camera and flash are retained where available, including TTL flash control, auto setting of shutter speeds and flash ready status in the viewfinder. Please note that this listing is for the TTL Remote Cord only, and no flash unit is included. It will only work with Nikon F3 dedicated flash units such as those listed here, and not standard hot shoe models.

The Nikon AS-1 Flash Unit Coupler is a handy little accessory for Nikon F and F2 series 35mm manual focus cameras (see full list below). These cameras have a non-standard flash mount around the rewind knob, and this adapter fits on here and accepts Nikon or independent hot shoe flash units. It can also be used with models that have a standard shoe and PC synchro cable, which plugs into the socket on the front of the camera. The adapter is very compact and lightweight at around 25mm (1 inch) tall, 35mm (1.5 inches) in diameter, and weighs under 30g. It's nicely made (in Japan), with metal shoes top and bottom, plastic body to save weight, and a rotating locking collar to secure it to the camera.
